Hacked, banned or suspended? Start here

Plain-English recovery guides for the accounts small businesses depend on. Each one is based on the platform's own help pages, with the official steps in order.

Before anything else

Three things to do first

  1. Use the official route only

Every platform has its own recovery or appeal page, inside the app or on its own website. Start there, not with a search result or a DM.

  2. Secure your email first

Your email is the key to every other account. Change its password and turn on two-step verification before anything else.

  3. Appeal once, then wait

Read the notice, note the deadline, and send one clear, honest appeal. Sending the same appeal again and again rarely helps.

Recovery scams to watch for

  • "Recovery hackers" who reply to your posts and offer to get the account back for a fee.
  • Support phone numbers in search results or comments. Google, for example, says you can’t call it for help signing in.
  • Messages "from Meta" or "from TikTok" asking for your password or a login code.
  • Websites that ask for your password to "check" or "remove" a shadowban.

Never share your password or a login code with anyone. Only the platform can restore an account.

FAQ

Common questions

Can someone recover my account for a fee?

Be very careful. Only the platform itself can restore an account, through its own recovery or appeal process. People who offer to do it for money are very often scammers, and they may take your password too.

Is there a phone number I can call for help?

Usually not. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Google handle account problems in the app or through their help centers. Google says plainly that you can’t call Google for help signing into your account.

How long do appeals take?

It depends on the platform and the case: from a day or two to several weeks. Each guide explains the deadlines that platform publishes, such as the 180 days Facebook gives you to appeal a suspension.

Should I just make a new account?

Usually not while an appeal is possible. Creating accounts to get around a suspension or ban can break the platform’s rules and put the new account at risk too.

Running a business on these accounts?

We set up social, Google and ad accounts with proper access for each team member, so one locked login doesn't stop your business.
