How to use the WhatsApp API Cost Calculator

How WhatsApp API pricing works from October 2026

  • Template messages (marketing, utility, authentication) are charged per delivered message at the rate for the customer's country.
  • Service replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free for the first 1,000 per phone number each month, then charged at the utility rate.
  • Utility templates sent inside the service window are now charged too.
  • Reactions and chats from Click-to-WhatsApp ads (72-hour window) stay free.

FAQ

Common questions

How is the WhatsApp Business API priced?

Meta charges per delivered template message, at different rates for marketing, utility and authentication templates and by the customer's country. From 1 October 2026, normal service replies are also charged after the first 1,000 per business phone number each month, at the utility rate.

Where do I find the rates for my country?

On Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing page and rate card, or your WhatsApp provider's price list. Rates are set per country of the person receiving the message, so use the rates for where your customers are.

Are chats from Click-to-WhatsApp ads free?

Yes. When a customer starts a chat from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook page button, a free entry point window of 72 hours opens. Leave those messages out of this calculator.

Does the free WhatsApp Business app cost anything?

No. This pricing applies only to the WhatsApp Business Platform (the API used by chatbots, CRMs and shared inboxes), not the free WhatsApp Business app on your phone.
