How to use the UAE & Saudi VAT Calculator

How VAT is calculated

  • Adding VAT: VAT = net price × rate. Total = net price + VAT.
  • Removing VAT: net price = total ÷ (1 + rate). VAT = total − net price.

The standard rate is 5% in the UAE and 15% in Saudi Arabia (since 1 July 2020). Some goods and services are zero-rated or exempt, so check with your accountant for anything unusual.

Both countries are moving to e-invoicing. Read our guides to UAE e-invoicing and Saudi ZATCA Wave 25, or check an invoice's QR code with our ZATCA QR code reader.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the VAT rate in the UAE?

The standard VAT rate in the United Arab Emirates is 5%, administered by the Federal Tax Authority. Some supplies are zero-rated or exempt.

What is the VAT rate in Saudi Arabia?

The standard VAT rate in Saudi Arabia is 15%, administered by ZATCA. It rose from 5% to 15% on 1 July 2020.

How do I remove VAT from a price?

Divide the VAT-inclusive price by (1 + the VAT rate). For 15%, divide by 1.15: 115 ÷ 1.15 = 100 before VAT, so the VAT is 15.
