How to use the Image Compressor
How to compress images
- Need a size limit? Pick a target like under 100 KB or under 1 MB. Otherwise leave it on "No target".
- Pick a quality (75% suits most photos) and a maximum width.
- Choose your images. You can add many at once.
- Check the savings in the table, then download one by one or all together.
Why smaller images matter
- Faster pages. Images are often the heaviest part of a web page, and speed affects how many visitors stay.
- Better search results. Google's page experience signals include loading speed (Core Web Vitals).
- Fewer upload errors. Many forms, marketplaces and email systems limit file size.

FAQ
Common questions
Does compressing an image reduce its quality?
A little, but at the default setting (75%) most people can’t see the difference on screen, while the file often gets much smaller. If you see blockiness, raise the quality and compress again.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression happens inside your browser, so your photos never leave your device. That also makes it fast, even for many files.
Should I use JPG or WebP?
WebP is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality and works in all modern browsers, so it is a good choice for websites. Use JPG when a platform or email client asks for it.
Why did my PNG turn into WebP?
Browsers can only save PNG files without compression, so a PNG often stays the same size. On Auto, PNGs are saved as WebP, which keeps transparency and is usually much smaller. Choose PNG if you need to keep the format.
How do I compress an image to 100 KB (or 1 MB)?
Choose the size under Target file size, then add your image. The tool tries the highest quality that fits under the limit, and only makes the image smaller in pixels if quality alone isn’t enough. This is handy for job portals, government forms and email limits.
What width should website images be?
Rarely wider than the space they fill. 1600 to 2000 pixels covers full-width images on most screens; blog and product images are often fine at 1200 pixels. Resizing first saves the most bytes.
